You're The Influencer

We made it through Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.  That’s quite a commerce trifecta.  If you took part, I hope that the buys were – at the very least - nearly useful.  Thanks to a discount, I bought $54 of car drying towels and some detailing spray.  In this community, we can agree that’s a useful buy.

With all of the holiday marketing stuff past us, let’s focus on the most important stuff.  The holiday season is about family.

On Saturday mornings in Hunt Valley – and the occasional Sunday afternoon in North East at the Winery at Elk Manor – we display our automotive enthusiasm.  That enthusiasm – for a high majority of us – has been a part of us since our early days.

For many of us, those early days predate the internet.  Maybe MotorWeek – one of my biggest influences – set the tone with their steady variety of automotive reviews.  Maybe it was the ’32 Ford Coupe from American Graffiti, the ’77 Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit, the ’69 Charger from Dukes of Hazzard or the Ferraris from Miami Vice and Magnum PI.

The enthusiasts of the internet generations may be inspired by the driving of Chris Harris from Chris Harris on Cars, Matt Farah from /Drive, Tiff Needell from Fifth Gear and The Stig from Top Gear.

Regardless of your ‘old school’ or ‘new school’ outside influences, for many of us, being bitten by the automotive bug was an ‘inside job’.   Maybe it was your mom, dad, sibling, aunt, uncle, grandparent or even a friend that got your wheels turning.  They did good.

Now, it’s our time.  We’re the influencers.  Around every corner, share your love for automobiles.  Bring your friends!  Bring the family!  See you and your crew down the road at Hunt Valley Horsepower!
